[A medium pitched whine is what opens the feed up today, big yellow eyes frowning childishly into the screen. That is definitely Vanitas' face, but he's looking a little... off. While the face hogs the screen, there's a continuous sound of metal clashing on metal in the background, but Vanitas doesn't seem to be paying any attention to it. Instead, he's starting to make a few silly faces!

Crossing his eyes and sticking out his tongue, then wiggling his eyebrows and blowing a raspberry, he's just amusing the hell out of himself, judging from the chittering chuckles. Jerking with a surprised yelp a moment later though, there's a large puff of smoke with the gear clattering on the ground.

Black and red streaks away before Vanitas is picking up the gear again with a very solid scowl.]

Little shit, using my face to look like an idiot...

Tch. Jake should find a better trainer; Eridan probably doesn't use anything but water types, and there are more than enough weaknesses to counter everything he has. [KIND OF GRUMPY ABOUT ERIDAN HE'S A DOUCHE.]

A few people mentioned that to me, but it's not really that surprising. [ seriously if you want her to be surprised about the seadweller with all the water pokemon you'll...basically never get what you want. ]

It sounds like it's going to be lovely, so I wouldn't worry about it!! Although I'm not sure what sort of gift to look into.

Well! My current thought was either a book of lore for this region or a book about the ruins near Violet, but I'm not sure those are really...exciting?

[ She's been thinking about it a lot, okay. ]

I really only know that he enjoys ruins, too.

You could look into books about Ecruteak. There are a ton more legends there than in Violet, even if there aren't any ruins. There's an old burnt tower and a handful of cool sounding legends though.

Maybe think about what you need while in a ruins; ropes, harnesses, helmets, that sort of junk.

I'm not sure if burnt towers might be in bad taste or not, all things considered. [ It sounds cool, but maybe humans are sensitive about brushes with danger and death in towers that almost burn down? She's trying to be culturally sensitive, which is hard! ]

Hm, well, I'm really good at that sort of thing. I need to get a lot of it myself, although I don't really have a lot of money right now. I basically spent my last bit of money on a winter coat and things; Karkat said to get weather-appropriate clothes. [ She also got practical stuff like travel cookware.

[Scratching his chin in thought, Vani started doing something on the gear without making any calls hang up on accident. It helps he just got her name and it's not hard to remember.]

Here's something to get you started then. The weather really does get pretty shitty and cold for a few months, so they're important enough.
