Ventus, check in with me. Haven't heard from you in a while.

[Vanitas sounds a little tired today. The feed is pointed away from him, showing that he's still in bed and that his Axew is far more interested in her snacks than anything her trainer is doing. What the screen isn't showing though, is that Vanitas has somehow turned blond overnight. His hair is ridiculously light, and it really bothers him; that's not the only change though. He's cut his lips with his teeth while just talking, and it's nothing short of awkward trying to eat with them just yet; they've become razor sharp and pointed, two of the canines peeking out from his upper lip. Vani's body is aching all over, especially along his back and up his arms, where weird markings that felt like scars were racing all up and even to his shoulders and back of neck. They almost appeared to be stripes?]

Beato, Rikku. You two as well, I want to know where you are. [This can't be about him feeling sick and wondering if it's some kind of outbreak, right? No, not at all...]

32 // private text to cobra commander

I have the item you requested, and the kid was dealt with.

[Not dead, no, the fight ended in a surprising tie... but it's not as though Vanitas really wanted to kill him. It was just a job, and the loud-mouthed Commander wanted the item more anyway.]

I will be sending the item in a box, carried by a Murkrow. Put the rest of the money in the box; the bird knows how to count.

31 // video ; backdated to earlier in the day, like.. noon?

[Today's feed takes place in the dark, or at least, it's dark until the curtain opens just enough from the breeze of the open window, to blind viewers. The light didn't blind just those watching though, because there's a tired, cranky sounding groan emitting from someone nearby. Once the light meter in the screen peters out to normal, it's easier to see that the gear is on the floor, and there are a couple bodies nearby.

Sure, the Pokemon had gotten up and left their trainers by now to sleep, but... well. This is the result of a Swablu being told to sing to put Vanitas to sleep. There's a hand groggily patting around until it lands on the gear, and it's dragged slowly across the floor.. until lifted and there's Vanitas, one eye closed tight and the other squinting.

Needing to pull it back to actually see what time it is, it reveals that there's a head of dark hair tucked at Vanitas' shoulder. With his thumb over the red light, unfortunately, Vanitas is none the wiser to the feed recording.. but then again, he still looks a bit disgruntled when he see's what time it is. Shoving a bit at the sleeping figure on him, Vanitas drops his hand with the gear back to the floor.]

Karkat.. wake up. It's freaking noon..

[While it's hard to see, there's a disgruntled sound coming from the once troll, an arm lifting and a middle finger extended. Growling, Vanitas lifts his hand with the gear in it and lightly smacks Karkat in the back, ending the feed.]

[There's a moment with purple streaking across the screen, paws hitting the Gear and unlocking it for the rest of the network to see; Vanitas petting a very affectionate Purrloin on his shoulder with a red ribbon tied around the kitty's neck, smiling a bit more openly.]

Nitas, don't jump up like that. I was done talking anyway.. impatient.

[Turning his attention back to the Gear, he clears his throat.]

Thanks, Ventus.

[.... o o p s, he didn't know the call unlocked. Well, either way, he's hanging up now, so the feed clicks off.]

[The feed starts out with a bit of static, but it wears off soon enough with Vanitas talking.]

Out of Mt. Mortar, starting now.

[Off to the side, his tone goes sour.] Now, you're learning how to freaking swim, and we're taking the other route next time. You got that?

I don't see what the bulge fondling deal was. We made it out just fine!

You're learning how to swim. Deal with it.

So, essentially, what we have here is you not wanting to confront your fears so you're more or less attempting to force me to do what doesn't come fucking naturally to anyone indigo on down?

Don't know what you're talking about, and I'm not looking for a lesson this time. While you're here, you're human, and humans can freaking swim.

You don't know what I'm talking about... How about I shove you the merry fuck back in there and sit my Lapras in front of the goddamn exit? What then?

[There's dead silence for a moment, before the sound of a fist hitting a face. Yeahh. The network gets a few audio cues that tell of a fistfight going down, before the gear is dropped and it cuts out.]

I was starting to think I'd seen it all, and then this... world throws me a curve ball.

[Swing goes the feed and -- wat.]

I don't even... see how this works. Ice cream is food. So why is it staring at me and chirping?

[It's just sitting there on the counter, looking so adorable and innocent and sweet and edible... do you all see the problem here?]

I think it's time for an upgrade.

[To that, he's shifting the camera to show his Minun chewing on some crackers, lounging on his shoulder.]

"Runt" isn't a name that fits him so much anymore. Suggestions? [There's a sudden crash in the background, Minun jumping and dropping the rest of his cracker, but it's the video and Vanitas turning to find... well.]

... Why do you always look like I'm catching you in the middle of somethng?

[The yellow Pokemon keeps standing there with arms above the head, but takes a moment to slowly reach down and draw his "pants" back up. Vanitas sighs, his tone a bit annoyed, but leaves the feed on the new Pokemon.]

A name for this guy too. Hatched this morning and every time I look at him, he looks like this.

[Actually, the camera turns a little to the left and there's a broken potted plant pushed up against the desk, where... oh. He was after the crackers on the table. There's a moment of quietly looking between the mess and the yellow Pokemon inching out of the frame, but eventually Vanitas reaches and pulls some of the crackers down, handing them to the suddenly greedy hands.

With his "prize" in tow, the Scraggy starts to make a run and gets a few steps out of sight before tripping on his "pants", which have fallen again.]

Maybe I need to get you a belt... [Vanitas sounds like he's refraining from chuckling, clicking the feed off.]

25 // [lol wat accidental video again]

[The feed starts out a little blurry, but blue paws are re-arranging the Gear to pointing upwards. At first all that can be seen is the back of a sweatshirt and the back of a head with dark hair pulled into the tiniest ponytail, and Vanitas is laughing.

Laughing from this guy usually is a bad thing, especially since the tone borders on creepy and it's just strange to see him of all people laughing while not inflicting some sort of pain on someone.

This goes on for a few minutes, and the longer someone watches, the more they'll notice how it's just the inside of some store and there's a television screen that Vanitas is keeping his attention on, and maybe the sounds of little ... screams? Runt, the cameramon of the night, takes this opportunity of his inattentive trainer to drag the Gear with while climbing up Vanitas' back to show the television screen.

Yeah, that is a large ball of pixelated Poochyena, Pikachu, and flailing, wiggling people. Said ball is made of mostly people at this point, and every little person is screaming in a different silly tone. It's tickling this kids funny bone so hard that he cannot stop laughing. Game going to be purchased when he's done with the level? Most definitely.

Vanitas is so enthralled with the game that he never notices the Pokemon on his shoulder, let alone the Gear recording him, so it's with the feed timing out that the clip ends.]

[With the feed turning on a second time today, Vanitas is wearing his helmet with the visor pulled back, but looking somewhat... pleased. Content, even. He doesn't even seem to care that his Minun is hanging out on the back of his head, giving him the illusion of blue ears.]

I'm curious to what Pokemon people have had trouble training. Where did you find them, and how have they proven difficult? Was it the typing that didn't fit your style of battle, or the personality too problematic?

[Since his team is all 100s (minus Smaug but he's getting there), Vanitas looking to expand his training experience; all them ice types are good to him but not good if he deals with a fire type again.]

[Minun is showing his new partner-in-crime, Smaug, how to work the PokeGear when the device flickers on today. Chitter-chatting away without seeming to care that he's being recorded, the mouse only passes it to the Charmeleon after 'explaining'. Smaug? Tries to chew on it first, leaving a nice messy slobber on the screen.

Around the noise of slobber, Charmeleon snuffs and Minun complaints, it might be possible to hear the dull thud of a seat being kicked. Excuse me, let me rephrase that; multiple dull thuds that do not seem to stop until a few seconds before there is the voice of an older man.]

Young man, I demand that you stop kicking my seat!

I'm not doing anything but minding my own business, old man.

[Oh, there's Vanitas' voice. And then, there is his hand as he pries the PokeGear out of his Pokemons mouth to hand it back to Minun. With the video still running, the device manages to catch some quiet few minutes passing before Vanitas quirks his mouth into an awful smile, and... swifty kicks the back of the seat in front of him again, before turning his head away to look elsewhere and drop the expression to something blank and bored.

Just in time for the old man to turn around and complain again, to which Vanitas pretends he did nothing. Minun, having caught all of that, just winds up chittering himself into a laughing frenzy, accidentally jolting the Gear into turning off.]

[The feed opens up with a view of a full set of badges; all eight of them, shining briefly in some fire light.]

Done in Azalea. Now I will check out Kanto. Maybe they'll provide more of a fight than these 'leaders'. [Vanitas reaches to turn the feed off without really saying much else, but a loud squabble erupts behind him. Turning and unintentionally filming his Murkrow and new Charmeleon fighting over some shiny coins, Vanitas outright grunts.]

What am I supposed to do with another lizard?

[Wait, does that Charmeleon look familiar? If anyone knows Yumi Ozawa, that was her Smaug. There isn't much else to see in the partial darkness, outside of Vanitas breaking up the fight with some irritable words until the Gear times out.]

[Oh, hey Johto, that's a pair of big yellow eyes staring into the screen at obscure hour of the morning. Hopefully that didn't startle any viewers, because Vanitas isn't doing anything more than staring at the screen. His eyes shift slightly, and it becomes apparent he's playing a game.

Sounds like tetris or ekans.

His expression has a hint of determination behind the mildly bored look, but its when the game beeps loudly in warning of 'disaster' does he narrow his eyes. Whatever it is he's doing, he's trying really hard not to lose, but it's hardly another few minutes before the game pukes out a GAME OVER and Vanitas' expression sours entirely. Curling his lip up and hissing, as if the game did it on purpose, he actually pouts before shoving the Gear away and under something; probably a pillow, since the weight is enough to turn the feed off within moments.]

Stupid freaking game...

[When the Gear flips on today, it isn't showing Vanitas, but it is showing a nice fall scene of Ecruteak's burnt tower. Mostly burnt, anyway.]

[Whatever it is on Vanitas' bed doesn't sound like it's something he's had before; that is distinctly barking coming through the microphone. Sounding exasperated and a bit out of breath from... probably yelling for the last twenty minutes, there's some footsteps before a loud sour grunt escapes him.]

Friggin -- don't you headbutt me you mongrel! Nasty little -- [Whatever he's going to say next is cut off by another headbutt, apparently, because Vanitas is angrily wheezing. It's tough to shove a dog off your bed when you've got a broken arm, you know?

With the sound of stumbling feet and then a quick yelp, Minun seems to have stepped in on this 'abusing his trainer' thing the Poochyena has taken herself upon doing. There's a bit of silence after the Pokemon has passed out, before the microphone scrapes on the floor as the Gear is picked up.

Is it on? Nah.... or maybe it is. Vanitas doesn't care all that much, actually, since the soft beeps of the PokeDex flipping on can be heard.]

Poochyena, the Bite Pokémon. Poochyena is the pre-evolved form of Mightyena. Its biting strength is superior to other Pokémon, and has the endurance to chase opponents down until completely exhausted.

[................................................................ ew. No one but the Minun can see Vanitas' look of pure ew at both the original trainer and the name of 'his new Pokemon', but uh.. well, with the silence and a disgusted sounding "No wonder it attacked me on sight", the feed clips off.]

17 // [video + not as planned trouble]

[When the feed flips on today, there's a pair of little blue paws on either side of the screen and Vanitas crouched down, peering in closely at the screen. Leaning back then, he reached past the view a moment before moving to stand.]

Alright Runt, stay here with that. I want to go over it after to double check something.

[It's almost strange to hear a content tone he hasn't had before; someone has certainly settled into the routine of raising Pokemon and battling, huh? Stepping further and further away into the view, it's now easier to see that he's in the Olivine gym and about to take the challenge, considering Jasmine is already prepared and explaining the general rules.

With those said and done, Vanitas moves back to his side of the arena and releases... everyones favorite psycho Charizard! Yeah, Dartanian looks a bit overly pumped today, belching out some fire in the air and giving an aggressive roar. Any Pokemon watching? They're able to hear him being ultra excited too.]

((FiGHT! WIlL WIn! WILL DeSTRoy!))

[Jasmine doesn't seem phased by the Charizard, though she must know she'll be at the type disadvantage. Letting out her Skarmory first, she's quick to tell it to use agility first. Vanitas? Doesn't need to say a word, since Dartanian charges forward as soon as the Pokemon is released. The speed boost definitely helps in letting the bird dodge the first belch of fire, but the dragon-like Pokemon is all over it in the next attack; a swift chomp from an open maw fire fang catches a wing, and while he still has the Skarmory up close, Dartanian flips it up into the air and inhales deeply to spit out an extra large flamethrower.

Bird down, two to go. Jasmine returns the Pokemon and lets out her next, prepping it with an X-Spec. Def along the way. It won't be visible right off the bat that her item of choice was that, but when the Magneton looks virtually unharmed from Dartanians next flamethrower attack, Vanitas speaks up finally.]

Flare blitz.

[Yeah, the physical fire attack got a one hit knock out on the Magneton then. Preparing himself with an excitable beginnings of outrage, Jasmine only returns her Magneton, giving in the white flag. Seems she knows her Steelix won't be doing any better, and has decided to give up.]

You are more than a match for me.. so there doesn't seem to be a reason to continue this fight. You have earned the Mineral badge.

(ooc notes: The red is Dartanian, I didn't feel like writing GRAHHHH and putting a translation when what he's saying is more important XD Vanibutt got kind of thrown around and his arm snapped in two places while the feed was pointed away, and the Altaria? Sanaa has finally evolved! Vanitas will be uh.. responding a few hours later after his arm has been dealt with appropriately (hi burns with breaks). Displeased Vanibutt is displeased though.)

[It's late in the evening when the feed has flipped on for the first time in a long time... but there's no one in sight, except Sanaa the Swablu. Lit by the glow of a campfire, she chirps happily at the screen before fluffing her wings and fluttering out of sight. There's some mild dragging sounds between the bird and what sounds like a Minun, as the two then proceed to set up the Gear.

Just what are they filming, silly Pokemon?

There's a couple of young kids sitting out in the sand, building onto a rather elaborate looking castle, and the feed just continues. Well into five minutes of just recording the kids working, something drops very suddenly right smack dab into their sand building, and gives a prompt and sharp sounding RAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!]

WAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH MOMMYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!

[Both children run off, though only one was absolutely wailing while the other was teeheeing, the person standing in the middle of what used to be the sand castle starts chuckling. Turning where the light finally catches, it's Vanitas, and he is grinning from ear to ear, looking somewhat giddy even.]

Now that, Runt, is how you properly startle someone. [The Minun gives a sort of agreement noise, and Vanitas? Doesn't even seem to care that the PokeGear is on. Apparently he's been having a contest with his mischevious electric rodent on scaring residents, and guess who just pulled into the lead with this ridiculous number?

Yeah, he's moving to pick up the Gear and shut it off now though, cause he so doesn't want to be around when the kids come back with the nagging mother. It would involve dodging police and Vanitas is actually enjoying himself for a change.]

[This Gear is starting out pretty quiet, other than the occasional sound of a Glaceon doing something. With how the wind is breezing juuuust enough over the microphone to make its presence known, one can guess that this person is outdoors.]

I really hate this weather.

Mii? Minun miiii!

Don't look at me like that, I just hate all of this constant sunlight. It's too hot...

[Why doesn't he just go indoors, you may ask?]

Miiiiiii!

Shut up, runt.. [He certainly sounds tired. Hmm.]

Sne. [There's some soft, worried chirps from a Swablu shortly after the Sneasel sourly says something. It's a few minutes longer before one of the Pokemon has the Gear and has flipped the video function on while picking it up (Void the Sneasel), and she looks none too happy about dragging it over a ways to .... smack her trainer in the nose with it. Not that gently, I must add.

Making a sharp, honestly surprised sound, Vanitas is instantly grabbing at his nose where he got whalloped, and there's a short clip of him looking outright baffled from the behavior before a second swat shuts the feed off.]

[When the feed first flickers on, the room is a bit dark if it weren't for a small lamp off to the side, but it's dampened as if behind something; it would be hard to tell it's Vanitas looking at the screen if it weren't for his eyes glinting yellow in the faint light. For the longest time, he says nothing, but... his expression does all the talking for him.

It starts off with his gaze pointed off screen, looking downward with his eyebrows drawn together. Lifting his eyes enough to look up and outward, there wasn't a movement in his head until he dropped his eyes again. This time, they were pointed to the left, his expression calming before his lip curled just slightly, brows pressed together again. Breathing in and sitting up slightly, Vanitas started to open his mouth with his expression attempting to calm again, but whatever he was going to say is cut short before he even utters a sound.

Giving a quiet, distinctly frustrated sound, he instead snaps the feed shut without saying anything.

It's a good hour before a text comes up.]

This emotion makes me absolutely sick.
