17 // [video + not as planned trouble]

[When the feed flips on today, there's a pair of little blue paws on either side of the screen and Vanitas crouched down, peering in closely at the screen. Leaning back then, he reached past the view a moment before moving to stand.]

Alright Runt, stay here with that. I want to go over it after to double check something.

[It's almost strange to hear a content tone he hasn't had before; someone has certainly settled into the routine of raising Pokemon and battling, huh? Stepping further and further away into the view, it's now easier to see that he's in the Olivine gym and about to take the challenge, considering Jasmine is already prepared and explaining the general rules.

With those said and done, Vanitas moves back to his side of the arena and releases... everyones favorite psycho Charizard! Yeah, Dartanian looks a bit overly pumped today, belching out some fire in the air and giving an aggressive roar. Any Pokemon watching? They're able to hear him being ultra excited too.]

((FiGHT! WIlL WIn! WILL DeSTRoy!))

[Jasmine doesn't seem phased by the Charizard, though she must know she'll be at the type disadvantage. Letting out her Skarmory first, she's quick to tell it to use agility first. Vanitas? Doesn't need to say a word, since Dartanian charges forward as soon as the Pokemon is released. The speed boost definitely helps in letting the bird dodge the first belch of fire, but the dragon-like Pokemon is all over it in the next attack; a swift chomp from an open maw fire fang catches a wing, and while he still has the Skarmory up close, Dartanian flips it up into the air and inhales deeply to spit out an extra large flamethrower.

Bird down, two to go. Jasmine returns the Pokemon and lets out her next, prepping it with an X-Spec. Def along the way. It won't be visible right off the bat that her item of choice was that, but when the Magneton looks virtually unharmed from Dartanians next flamethrower attack, Vanitas speaks up finally.]

Flare blitz.

[Yeah, the physical fire attack got a one hit knock out on the Magneton then. Preparing himself with an excitable beginnings of outrage, Jasmine only returns her Magneton, giving in the white flag. Seems she knows her Steelix won't be doing any better, and has decided to give up.]

You are more than a match for me.. so there doesn't seem to be a reason to continue this fight. You have earned the Mineral badge.

[Looking mighty proud of himself, Vanitas makes his way across the arena without returning Dartanian to pick up his badge and whatever else she plans on giving him, since all Gym leaders seem to pass out freebies. Dartanian, however.. doesn't look pleased by this turn of events.]

((NO! FIghT MORe! WAnT TO FIGht MoRE!!))

[Roaring and snarling, flames leaking from his nose and mouth, Dartanian starts to stomp after his trainer, all sorts of unhappy. Ignoring his Pokemon while pocketing his badge and even when Jasmine looks a bit unsure and is taking a few steps back, Vanitas only turns when his business is done to reach and try to give the dragon-like Pokemon a punch in the nose; the usual punishment for being obnoxious.

Yeah, Dart wasn't having any of that today. Turning his head to dodge the fist, he's quick to snap those jaws down on Vanitas' arm, catching it bent so he had both forearm and upper arm, elbow sticking out of his maw. The motion itself has the camera shaking a bit, a startled Mii! and a few other surprised Pokemon noises coming from behind the Gear, before the device is dropped.

The Gear doesn't miss much despite facing up to the ceiling now as the other Pokemon run to assist their trainer, since there's a sharp yell of pain and a roaring Charizard throwing Vanitas up into the air and not letting go of his arm... and there's the snap of a dislocated shoulder.]

((WEaK! GONe sOFT!! NEVer WOULD HaVE STopPED BEfORe!!! FIGhT MORE!!!))

[With a loud, offscreen thud, Vanitas is letting out another loud, pained sound. Getting thrown into steel walls hurts a bit, yaknow? It doesn't sound like his other Pokemon are letting this all go, though, since there's electrical snaps as Minun works on paralyzing the Charizard. With all the fighting making the ground shake, the feed eventually shorts out. When it does come back a few minutes later, it has a view straight up of an Altaria snapping that sharp beak forward and driving Dartanian back, before spitting out a well placed dragon pulse that knocks the fire type back and out finally.

With things finally quieting down other than gentle, concerned sounds from a small group of Pokemon, Jasmine is finally able to cautiously approach, visible on the screen as she stands near the Altaria.]

I'll.. I'll call the center, please don't move, sir..!

[There's a sour sounding wheeze from somewhere very close, but it's Minun who finds the Gear again. Picking up the somehow not broken device, the Pokemon looks a bit distressed when flipping the feed off.]

(ooc notes: The red is Dartanian, I didn't feel like writing GRAHHHH and putting a translation when what he's saying is more important XD Vanibutt got kind of thrown around and his arm snapped in two places while the feed was pointed away, and the Altaria? Sanaa has finally evolved! Vanitas will be uh.. responding a few hours later after his arm has been dealt with appropriately (hi burns with breaks). Displeased Vanibutt is displeased though.)

[It's a shame Dartanian already caused the emotional damage with the physical too, since he'd be more... appreciative of the words. Shifting his eyes away with his expression smoldering, his tone came out sour.]

I won't be letting my guard down again. [Ever. Again.]

[Beato knows something is wrong, but she can't quite put her finger on it. All she knows is that Vanitas is upset, and that she wants to help him like he helped her. Lets out a kind smile.]

I know you won't, you're very strong.

[Opening his mouth, almost starting 'You don't even know', Vanitas... honestly looks a bit lost on the vote of confidence. His anger deflated, at least for now, as he quietly moved his eyes back to the screen.]

True strenght is not giving up!

[...She heard that on TV, but she believes in those words.]

As long as you believe, you can do anything. It's fine to make mistakes as long as you learn from them, am I wrong?

You sound like you're quoting. [It still makes his mouth quirk upwards. Closing his eyes then and taking in a slow breath, he relaxes against the bed. Oh, he won't give up, Vanitas never really has... but Dartanian is going to pay once he's healed up. That will be then; he can remember this anger and use it later, and he will use it appropriately.

Using emotions 101, storing anger and hate for later use! For now? He'll bide his time. Finally, Vanitas reopens his eyes again with a more settled expression, that small quirk to his mouth lingering.]

I suppose hearing it enough makes people believe that, huh?

I think it's true... after all, I've learned from my mistakes. And I won't give up! This place is my haven, and I decided to be myself and be happy in here.

I just needed to hear those words once to believe it.

[Tipping his head as much as the bruises on his face would allow to be nudged across the pillow behind his head, Vanitas lifts the eyebrow on his unbruised side of face.]

What was your home like? [The question kind of blurts out, enough that he looks mildly surprised with himself.] That this is a haven.

[She smiles, as innocent as ever. The time where she found scary remembering her past life in the mansion was long gone, though there is some lingering sadness in her words.]

In my world... there is a very powerful witch that has lived for a thousand years. Kinzo trapped her soul and placed it in a vessel, so that he could have her... [Looks down, still smiling softly.] He created me to hold Beatrice's soul.

[It's almost funny how he never really thought much on why Beato and Beatrice looked alike; of course there's some type of connection. No one looks that uncannily alike unless there's a connection; Ventus and Roxas, himself and the runt, Xion and the princess.

Quiet and watching that sad little smile, Vanitas found himself frowning a bit. And he should wear his helmet more often, on noting the expression he's wearing to himself; it does nothing good to wear his thoughts on his sleeve like this. ~~gdmit ventus~~]

... Created for a purpose you don't need to fulfill here, in otherwords. [No wonder this place is a haven though.]

[Beatrice nods softly, her smile going back to bright and happy. After all... everything was now in the past.]

I am my own self, even when I have her soul inside me. I do not possess any kind of magic, I am merely human. And here in Johto, I even got to meet Beatrice! She said she saw no problem with us being friends, and that we should have tea someday and confuse everyone! [She said that a little lower, like a kid telling a secret.]

[Giving a slight nod in understanding, Vanitas is... mentally adding Kinzo to his 'deserving a butt whipping' list. Lowering her voice like that got a small chuckle out of him, his mouth quirking up despite his original reservations on showing this much emotion.]

It sounds like a good plan.

I can hardly wait!

[A pause. He was looking a lot better now, wasn't he?]

What about you? How was your world like? I'd like to know everything about my friend's worlds too!

[Quirking his good eyebrow again, he had to pause and give genuine thought to 'his world'.]

... It wasn't just one. I could travel to all sorts of different worlds, so I never had a true home world, you could say.

[All sorts of different worlds. Her eyes just widen in surprise as she hears him. So far, the people she hd met come from one world. But to know a lot of them?]

That... sounds incredible...! How did you do it? Travel, I mean. Was it magic?

... A type of magic, I suppose. [Glancing down at himself, he narrowed his eyebrows just slightly.] I could make corridors of darkness to simply walk through and be where I wanted. It was part of what I was.

Darkness? Like the shadows when the sun is bright? Or like the mantle of the night?

You make it sound like poetry. [Bringing his gaze back up, he exhales.] I was created from the darkness in a persons heart. All of his dark thoughts, feelings and so on, anything that causes a person to do things another would consider terrible. That's what I am.

[She keeps silent for a moment, thinking in what he said...]

I... I see. It sounds a bit strange, though. How can it be that you say you were created from darkness? You've been nothing but kind to me.

[Quiet for a few minutes himself, his eyebrows crunch together in thought.]

It's... odd that I have been this civil. I can see I've changed enough from how I used to be due to being here for a long time. [Shifting his eyes away with a bit of an uncomfortable look, he exhales a bit louder through his nose. Awkward much?]

I still am what I am, even if I've... been calmer than I used to be.

[Beatrice smiles softly, in contrast. She starts laughing, quietly at first.]

So we both were created for something we can escape from in here. I like being free from Kinzo and his magic. Do you like being free too, Vanitas?

... I don't know. [That thinking face is growing darker, thoughts racing through his mind.] I was pulled from my natural body and placed in this one.

I'm not whole.

You're not whole...? Did you lose something?

Can I help you find it??

[That darkness seems to seep away with her questions, and he can't help a quiet chuckle.]

I'm half a person; the dark half. I didn't lose anything so much as he did.

Then that person must be desperately looking for you too! I don't know how would I live if I were half a person!

No, he's whole already. [KH logics, they can confuse forever.] He's from a time further ahead of me where I've.. already rejoined him.
