Ventus.
[Gee, that is a familiar voice coming over the network to some people, now isn't it? The single name spoken was in a quiet tone, but just as the words were soft, they carried so much in the simple annunciation that it was difficult to tell if it was desperate longing?, or just plain hate.
It was impossible to see who spoke just yet though, since all that could be seen was black feathers. It wasn't long though before the figure pulled back, a gold beak and red eye quirking at the feed from an upside down view -- Oh. A Murkrow, for those who know what this Pokemon looks like. The feed had talons peeking at the edges, so it seems the bird is the one holding the PokeGear, surprise video recording his new trainer down below since it seems to be in rafters.
Except all the viewers can see is a mess of black hair for a moment as the person down below slides on a helmet, then turns a visor blocked gaze upward. A soft t'ch can be heard, before he begins to stride away, a bag over his shoulder and a mess of unnecessary things dropped down below.

The feed starts to shake and move though, as the Pokemon takes wing quietly and swoops after his trainer and passing overhead, a short glimpse of a strange egg also in the bag before a hand shoots up and blocks the view, clicking off.
Looks like the bird flew a touch too low.]

[Leaving the building referred to as a base, Vanitas hardly batted an eye at the bright sunlight outdoors, the white snow all around making it even brighter. No, this is nothing, especially with his visor still on, making everything as dark as dusk for him. He only paused to rip the strange device out of the birds talons as it flew above him, snapping it shut and passing it back into his bag, unknowing of the recording that happened.
Perhaps it can be used to find him.
Moving forward now and following only the faint tug in his chest, he began to search the town. No building was safe, and no corner was unturned.]
(ooc: Basically, Vanitas is searching for Ven. This includes kicking down doors and rifling through everyones things and outright destroying the insides of everything in sight while he searches. FEEL FREE TO TRY AND STOP HIM IF YOU ARE IN MAHOGANY TOWN 8Db He may get violent though. In fact, he's already in a really piss-poor mood! So uh, he most likely will hang up on people who try to talk to him, but any mentions of Ven will make him curious enough to leave it on and... chat.)

[ And she doesn't trust this guy, not exactly, but she doesn't see the harm in telling him. He seems to know Ven... and Ven has a lot of friends here, too! They won't let anyone harm him; she won't let anyone harm him. She trusts in that, in their friendship and the strength of it even as she speaks, but that doesn't mean she's any less uncertain, worried, or afraid. For Ven. ]
He's been sleeping for almost two weeks now and he won't wake up.

[ But she's concerned and this guy seems to know Ven, so it can't hurt to ask. After all, he might know something! ]

No, not before. [It's the result of what he remembers last. At least, it should be, but he shouldn't even be here then if that was the case. His answer came out almost quiet, thinking hard on this.]

[ She nods with some finality. ]
We're at the Pokémon Center in Goldenrod City. It could take you as little as a few days or several weeks to reach Goldenrod depending on where you are. Are you in New Bark Town or on Route 29?

No. I, for some reason, arrived in a town called Mahogany. I have a map however, so I will move to Goldenrod immediately. [He's figuring by the map, only a few days.]

[ Given how many times Hikaru's read the map, the name sounds familiar, but familiar isn't good enough, so she leans down, reaches into her backpack, and procures her paper map, which has yet to be eaten by Aina. She blinks. How...? But she guesses that doesn't matter so much. He's probably nearer than he is far, which is a good thing. Good for Ven. ]
You should be careful when traveling. I haven't been to Mahogany yet, so I don't know what level the Pokemon and trainers in that area are, but I'm sure you'll have to battle to get here, so you should probably make sure that you and your Pokemon are prepared for the trip before you leave. It might help to catch another, too...

Most everyone in Johto has at least one. Some people breed them, some people battle them, and some people keep as them pets. If you point this device at a Pokemon, it should tell you a lot of really useful informational about it too. Oh, and you catch Pokemon using Pokeballs, which look like --
[ She draws one out and holds it up so that he can see. ]
This! Pretty nifty, huh? You just aim and throw, but you can only use empty pokeballs and it's generally better to weaken one before trying to catch it.
